Hua Wang

Hua WangHua Wang is a Professor of the Department of Computer Science at Colorado School of Mines. He joined the department right after he finished his Ph.D. degree in 2012. His current research interests include machine learning and data mining, as well as their applications in medical image computing, health informatics, cheminformatics, material informatics, additive manufacturing, bioinformatics, and computer vision, where he aims at developing efficient algorithms with nice theoretical guarantees to solve practical problems involving large scale data. Before his academic jobs, he ever worked in industry for Motorola for 4 years.

Research

“My research interests include machine learning and data mining, as well as their applications in medical image computing, health informatics, cheminformatics, material informatics, additive manufacturing, and computer vision. I aim at developing efficient machine learning and data mining algorithms with theoretical guarantees to solve practical problems involving large scale data. I am particularly interested in formalizing and solving new problems driven by the advancements of new technologies.
